Recently, internet users caught our attention with the viral-spreading promotional videos for a new, magical liquid-repelling spray, called Neverwet. According to the videos, all kinds of liquids immediately slide away from the treated surfaces. In this article, we have decided to show you how this magical spray works.
This new liquid-repellent, Neverwet, is silicone-based. Application is really simple. If you want something to stay dry forever, spray a first coating on it, let it settle for half an hour, then spray a second coating and leave it for 12 hours. According to the claim, you are now supposed to hold in your hands something that will never get wet.
So let’s take a closer look at this magical Neverwet spray. According to the label, Neverwet is best for metal, wood, concrete, aluminum, PVC, masonry, asphalt, “and more”. Further, it is good for fabric, leather and canvas. The kit comes with two aerosol cans.
The stuff actually works awesome. Considering that it is explicitly designed to disintegrate in water, it is incredible to see how this product sheds droplets faster than a sheet of glass. The bad news is that it doesn’t actually last forever. Of course, it depends on the surface you spray Neverwet on, but it is not very likely that the coating will endure any continued wear and tear. And that’s the reason why you should always keep your expectations as low as possible, regarding new stuff that are supposed to work miracles.
Another downside of Neverwet is that it dries to a “milky white haze”. What it actually looks like is dried, small bits of white paint. So it’s really not a good idea to spray it on fabric, leather or canvas. If you are wondering whether to buy it – well, it is incredibly fun party trick, but don’t expect it to last. It is affordable, so you can get it and play with it for a while. Be careful, because it really sticks to your hands, unlike the surfaces it is intended to stick to. Once you get it on your hands, Neverwet doesn’t come off easily.
The scary thing about Neverwet – it says on the label that it contains a chemical known to cause cancer and birth defects. So, obviously, you should never eat it, breathe it or touch it. If you decide to get Neverwet, we suggest to be extremely careful with it.
If you’ve already made up your mind to get Neverwet, we don’t want to talk you out of it. Just don’t expect miracles – be realistic about it. It really works and looks cool, that is, if you want to have some fun with it.
